Terry Tinker

Chester County Coroner Terry Tinker has been named South Carolina Coroner of The Year.

Tinker received the honor during the South Carolina Coroner's Association annual banquet held June 22 at Litchfield Plantation and Golf Club at Pawley's Island. In presenting the award, association President, Coroner Dennis Fowler of Cherokee County, said Tinker had made great strides in his office since first elected. "When Coroner Tinker took over as coroner in 2005 he had no office, computer, records, paper or pens. He operated the Chester County Coroner's Office out of his home and vehicle. He has worked extremely hard and now has a state of art new office, a chief deputy coroner and six certified deputies," Fowler said.

Known as a big man with a big heart, an humble Tinker said, "Every coroner in the state should have this award."
